If you grew up near the beach in the '60s and wanted to surf, you started on a mat. Half a century later, when you're in your 60s, if you're lucky, you'll end up back on a mat! The surf mat might be the friendliest way there is to ride waves, and if you're so inclined, it can also be a hell of a performance vechicle.
