My name is Josie Prendergast. 22 years old, and I am a free surfer. I am half Filipino and half Australian. I've always grown up around the ocean, and it has shaped me and my surfing.

Where were you born and raised?
I was born on a little island called Siargao Island in the Philippines. Home to the famous wave, Cloud Nine. When I was four, my family and I moved to Byron Bay, Australia, and did our education here.
What do you like about where you live now?
The environment, waves, friends, family, and community.
When and how did you start surfing?
I caught my first wave at Broken Head when I was around the age of 7. It wasn't until around 11 that I really got into surfing. I was on smaller boards and then went on to longboard and fell in love. My dad taught me and the ocean has always been around us so naturally, we were drawn to surfing.

My family. Building a future where kids less fortunate have access to education and basic necessities.
