What do you call a person with no body and no nose? Nobody knows. I’m Micky Clarke, 25 years old and from Ventura, CA. Thank you to everyone at NobodySurf for putting this together! Enjoy the music and surf vids.
Nickname: Hahaha, that’s a funny one. I’ve got a few nicknames. My real name is Ian. Growing up, my brother called me Micky, and everyone followed. From there, it became Mitchard, and somehow, we landed at Miggy or Mig. I’m waiting for what’s to come next.
Born and raised: I was born and raised in Ventura, California. In a small beach neighborhood called Pierpont.
Based now: I haven’t moved! I’m in the same place I started.
Stance: Regular
Sponsor: Vans, Haydenshapes Surfboards, OCTOPUS, and Ventura Surf Shop
What do you like about where you live now?
No rent. But really it’s my friends and the Chapter 11 store. Plus, it’s not as crowded or fast-paced as a lot of places in Southern California, which is nice.
When and how did you start surfing?
I started surfing when I was 8-9 years old, and it was because of my older brothers and my dad. My dad got my brothers into surfing, and then I naturally followed. Living close to the beach really helped as well, but ever since I could remember, my dad always had us at the beach, whether it was on family vacation or hanging out at home. Always in and around the water. I feel like I naturally became addicted to surfing, and it’s taken over for sure.
Where is your go-to surf spot?
Emma Wood. The worst wave in Ventura.
Please tell us about the surfboard you usually ride. Brand, shaper, dimensions, fin setup, etc.
Lately, I’ve been riding my Haydenshapes model called the MiG. It’s a bit stubby and fast. I ride it as a 5’9 by 19 1/2 by 2 7/16 as a thruster or 2+1 in future fins. PU or Epoxy is super fun. Preferably Epoxy for anywhere in California or softer easier waves.
Where are your favorite surf spots that you've been to?
Mexico, Indonesia, Chile, and Puerto Rico.
Where are the surf spots you want to visit in the future that you've never been to?
I’m always up for exploring island chains through Indonesia. I’d also really love to visit Alaska or Iceland. Places like that seem so cool to explore and getting good waves there is crazy to think about.
Which do you like more, Air or Tube?
Tube. Nothing better in surfing, I don’t think.
Which do you like more, Noseride or Maneuver?
Maneuver. 100%
Which one video would you highlight in this playlist and why?
"DOOM” is my personal favorite. I had a lot of fun editing it and the two trips I went on in Mexico/Puerto Rico were very enjoyable. I really like the sound track that was put together for it as well.
Who are the surfers that inspire you?
Tom Curren, Dane Reynolds, Craig Anderson, Noa Deane, Shaun Manners
What are the surf films/videos that inspire you?
First Chapter, Chapter 11, THE QUIETER YOU ARE THE MORE YOU CAN HEAR., CHEESE 1-2, BLASTOID, Searching for Tom Curren, Creepy Fingers, Bruce Movie, NOZ VID, HEAD NOISE, MOTEL HELL, Modern Collective
Other than surfing, what are you passionate about?
